CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Las Vegas semi driver is being summoned to Clay County court in reference to a double fatality crash back in July.

The Clay County Prosecutor’s Office issued the summons to Amehadari Desta, age 39, on a felony charge of obstructing traffic resulting in serious bodily injury.

On July 19, Desta was the driver of a disabled semi-tractor trailer on I-70 at the 21 mile marker that was blocking the right lane of traffic. As traffic attempted to merge into the passing lane, a four-vehicle crash occurred resulting in the deaths of Dolores C. Soroa, 67 of West Miami, Fla. and Anelis Norq-Herrera Perez, 70, of Cuba.

Desta is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m., Dec. 11.
