VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A lockout at two Vigo County schools Thursday morning was due to a possible sighting of a man wanted for a murder in Illinois, Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said.
According to Sheriff Plasse, a resident reported seeing Rick Meador in the area of Cobblestone Crossing apartments. However, it has not been confirmed if it was Meador.
Dixie Bee Elementary and Honey Creek Middle schools were on a lockout as result. The lockout has since been lifted.
Police said Meador is charged with the murder of Kyle Johnson of Olney, Illinois and is considered armed and dangerous.
According to the sheriff, deputies are patrolling the Cobblestone Crossing area and that residents should lock their doors and remain vigilant.
