Daviess County Sheriff warns of phone scam

Local News

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office announced that it had received several reports about a scam on Thursday in which the caller states he is with the Sheriff’s Office and that the recipient of the call has a warrant.

The recipient is then informed of a bond amount and asked to pay a portion of this bond to avoid arrest. The Sheriff’s Office adamantly informed the community that it does not call people to tell them they have a warrant and they do not ask for bond money over the phone.

Anyone receiving such a call should simply hang up and not give the caller any personal information.
