DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Families in Daviess were able to take some weight off their shoulders on Sunday.

Serval local groups collaborated to host a community baby shower for the residents of Daviess County. This was a one-stop-shop for young families to get the things they need in their everyday lives.

It included multiple community providers that offered their help and resources. There was also free pizza and popcorn for all that attended.

Mandy Ash is the community health coordinator for the Daviess County Health Department, and she wants to let families know that they are never alone.

“Seeing the kids and watching them smile and knowing that their needs are met and that they have connections in the community, so that if something does come up, they know who to reach out to and who can help them,” said Ash.

Ash also wanted to add how important events like these are in this community.

“An event like this can help these families in so many ways. Things are so expensive in today’s world, and it is always a sigh of relieve when you know that you have the resources you need. That is what we want to be able to provide for these families,” added Ash.

The Daviess Community Hospital will host a festival of trees event later this month.
