TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One local group is inviting the community to join in an event celebrating dads and the important role they play in their children’s lives.
The Dads Matter Coalition will hosts its first cookout from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Deming Park’s Larrison Pavilion. The free event is open to the public, and will include food, door prizes, live music, train rides and pool passes.
“We’re all about celebrating fathers and the importance of fathers being in their children’s lives,” Brandon Halleck, co-chair of Dads Matter Coalition, said. “And so we want to bring as many dads and their kids and families together as we possibly can.”
Halleck said dads–and moms–are encouraged to bring their children to the cookout.
The event was made possible by Chances and Services for Youth, Children’s Bureau, Dentistry Just for Kids, Hamilton Center, The Dance Studio, Tabco, Terre Haute Fire Department, Union Health, Valley Professionals Community Health Center, Wabash Valley Crisis Pregnancy Center, and Walmart East-4235.
Families wanting to attend are encouraged to RSVP at allbabies.org/dmc. Those interested in learning more information about the Dads Matter Coalition are encouraged to contact Brandon Halleck at firstname.lastname@example.org or Dan Hardesty at email@example.com.
