TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Update: A multi-car crash involving a semi-truck at the intersection of Margaret Avenue and US 41 (3rd Street) sent more than one person to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Terre Haute Police Sgt. Michael Ellerman, witnesses of the crash, and the individuals involved said a semi-truck had run a red light, striking a red passenger vehicle, and pushing it into a black pickup truck.
Ellerman described the injuries as minor lacerations, abrasions, and bruises, and said some were treated on scene by EMS and members of the Terre Haute Fire Department, while more than one person was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
The crash caused the closure of all but 1 lane both northbound and southbound as crews worked to remove the disabled vehicles. Ellerman said the cleanup took approximately 45 minutes with traffic restored as of 9 a.m.
1st Update: As of 9 a.m. Terre Haute Police have reported that the intersection had been cleared and traffic restored.
The injured parties involved were reportedly taken to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
