TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A fire in an abandoned residence in Terre Haute has been ruled an arson.

According to Terre Haute Fire Department Chief Bill Berry, the call came in around 6:33 a.m. of a house fire in the 2300 block of Sycamore Street in Terre Haute Wednesday morning.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported finding smoke and flames showing. Terre Haute Fire Battalion Chief John Gardner said the fire was out by 7:30 a.m.

Crews remained on the scene for about 2 hours total. No one was injured. The home was considered abandoned, so no one is listed as displaced due to the fire.

Chief Berry said the cause of the fire has been ruled as arson.
