CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — History buffs in the area will have the chance to take part in a “History Hop” in Crawford County, Illinois.

The free event includes eleven sites that will be open to visitors at the same time. The sites range from fort lamotte in Palestine to the archeology museum in Robinson, to an oil field museum in Oblong.

At Fort Lamotte, there will be live demonstrations, including artillery activity and woodsmen displays.

Organizers noted that there will be a chance to win prizes while taking a look back in time.      

“If you visit 6 museums, you get a little prize, but then your names goes into a drawing,” Marie Davis organizer of the event said.

Attendees can win prizes that include cash and a gift basket.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on August 19 and from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on August 20.
