CARLISLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Wabash Valley Correctional Facility correctional officer was arrested Sunday after an internal investigation into the battery of an inmate.
Sgt. Jeremy McGlynn was placed on suspension Feb. 5 after an allegation was made against him. He was officially terminated Feb. 9.
He began employment with the Indiana Department of Correction on Jan. 9, 2017, and was working as a correctional officer supervisor at the WVCF when the allegation was made.
Following the investigation, information was presented to the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office who issued a warrant for McGlynn’s arrest last week.
McGlynn was charged with official misconduct and battery. He was booked into the Sullivan County Jail where he later posted bond and was released.
“We take allegations of abuse of offenders very seriously, as evidenced by the rapid initiation of an investigation and suspension of the accused correctional officer.” Wabash Valley Correctional Facility Warden Richard Brown said. “We have a responsibility to ourselves, and the offenders we are responsible for, to hold our staff to a high standard of professionalism. While that standard was not met in this case, our definitive action demonstrates we hold our personnel accountable.”
