TERRE HAUTE., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board met to discuss updates Wednesday.
They said all property needed to build the structure has been purchased. They are now in final talks with Spectra, the entertainment company that will be the convention center’s operator.
According to one of the board’s legal representative, they’re pleased with how things are moving along.
“We’ve gotten some of the stumbling blocks that’s been in place, on the property, all set aside. They’ve been overcome. Property is in place, construction’s proceeding as scheduled and as budgeted. So I think we’re starting to see the light,” said Brian Bosma of Kroger, Gardis & Regas LLP.
For the month of October, the convention center project received a distribution of $249,247.95 from the Vigo County Food and Beverage Tax, which officials said is the highest amount the project has received from the tax.
The convention center project is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
