TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After the funeral for fallen Terre Haute Police Department Officer Det. Greg Ferency on Tuesday the procession began its journey through the community.

The procession left the Hulman Center where it was led by various agencies including Terre Haute Police, Indiana State Police, Vigo County Sheriffs, F.B.I, U.S. Customs and Border Protection as well as dozens others.

The procession made a brief stop at the Terre Haute Police Department Headquarters in which Detective Ferency’s final call was dispatched.

Community members lined the streets of Wabash Ave. with many of them congregating in front of the police headquarters to pay their final respects.

Many people waved flags, saluted and even shed tears as the procession passed by. Residents say they were more than saddened by the news of Det. Ferency’s death.

“My heart is just broken. It really is. It’s just a sad loss,” Perry Schultz said. “A police officer who served his community for 30 years. I don’t see why I couldn’t show 30 minutes of support for someone who lost his life in the line of duty,” Zachary Boone said.
