WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A new health care clinic in West Terre Haute, Ind., “Valley Professionals Community Health Center,” broke ground on its new facility Tuesday afternoon.
The 5,000 square foot building will house seven exam rooms, two behavioral health treatment centers, a lab and a pharmacy, according to a news release. Patients will be able to utilize the center for many needs, including receiving primary care and picking up medication.
The goal of the new facility is to help an underserved area, regardless of a person’s ability to pay for healthcare treatment. According to COO of the center TJ Warren, the idea has been in development for awhile.
“We’re super excited, it’s been a longtime coming,” Warren said. “As I said in my speech, it’s been about four or five years in the making.”
Sister Dorothy from the Sisters of Providence said the area has a large need for a center such as this.
“Currently, there is no doctor or pharmacy in West Terre Haute or anywhere on this side of the river,” she said. “So, this is an important day for all of us.”
The clinic is located at 601 National Avenue in West Terre Haute and is set to open in March 2022.
