DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A full road closure will begin Tuesday, July 6, on State Road 58 near Elnora, Ind., for a drainage structure replacement, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.
Contractors will close S.R. 58 about a mile west of the intersection with State Road 57 beginning “on or around” July 6. The workers will be replacing a drainage culvert, which according to INDOT will require a pavement cut across all traffic lanes, excavation of the old structure, replacing the culvert and eventually resurfacing the areas where pavement was cut.
During this construction, the road will be closed 24 hours a day. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure, INDOT said, but all through traffic should use the official detour posted by crews.
The construction work is expected to last until the end of July, depending on weather. INDOT is encouraging all drivers in the area to slow down and stay alert when near service crews.
