CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local elementary students are getting to take some brand new books home with them from school Friday.

WTWO/WAWV/MyWabashValley.com teamed up with Horizon Health, First Book, and Disney to donate books to Casey and Martinsville Elementary schools. Children had lots of options to choose from. School leaders and Horizon Health say reading is important.

“Reading is key to life,” said Martinsville Principal Victoria Norton. “You have to do that no matter what position, what job, what you may do in life. Reading is absolutely key.”

“Horizon Health believes that there’s a lot of different pieces to health, not just what happens inside our walls and literacy would definitely be one of them,” Marketing/Communications Director at Horizon Health Erin Frank said. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to help foster that literacy and the family time that comes with it.”

Kids were very thankful and excited about the books they chose to take home.
