TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two new transport vehicles will soon be added to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department fleet.
Commissioners approved a one-year, $10,000 lease agreement Tuesday for a minivan and a 15 passenger van.
The Sheriff’s Office hopes the new vehicles improve day-to-day operations.
“It will make it more efficient,” said Sheriff John Plasse. “We’ve got spare vans, but we’ve got different needs when people need to go to doctors appointments, different kinds of things that we take them to routinely. When you’re down a van, one of the ones we replaced was already down most of the time anyway. So, it’s just kind of replenishing the fleet.”
After the one-year lease ends, the department will have the option to buy the vans.
