Clay County sees first COVID-19 death

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Clay County Health Department on Tuesday reported the first coronavirus-related death of a county resident.

According to the health department, the person had been hospitalized as a COVID-19 patient, and died at the hospital Monday.

No further details regarding the patient were released due to privacy laws.

Clay County has had 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Two additional deaths in Daviess County were also reported Tuesday by the Indiana State Department of Health.

As of Tuesday, more than 12,000 Hoosiers had been diagnosed with COVID-19, and a total of 630 deaths had been reported.
