VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The City of Vincennes will implement two new city-wide large item trash disposal days over the summer, Mayor Joe Yochum said in a press release Wednesday.
The two disposal days, which were made possible through a collaboration between the city and Republic Services, will take place Saturday, June 5 and Saturday, June 12. On these days, Vincennes residents can take large trash items to Republic Services at 2706 North Second Street for disposal.
Any items taken to Republic Services between 8 and 11:30 a.m. on both Saturdays will be disposed of for free. Anything that is too large to fit inside a regular trash can, such as furniture, large toys, carpeting and appliances, may be taken to the drop off site; however, all appliances must not contain chlorofluorocarbons and hydrofluorocarbons, so refrigerators and air conditioners are not eligible for disposal.
Other unacceptable objects include construction debris and materials, tires, paint, electronics and hazardous waste. Republic Services did clarify that empty paint cans may be accepted.
In order to be eligible for trash delivery on these days, Vincennes residents must show photo I.D. that shows an address within the city. For more information call Republic Services at (812) 882-1215 or the city’s Street & Sanitation Department at (812) 885-2520.
