TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Officials in the city of Terre Haute have announced that a city-wide cleanup effort will take place this weekend.

The mayor’s office said volunteers will meet in the south parking lot of the old THPD headquarters building at 12th and Wabash starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 7.

There will also be seven open-top dumpsters available at the same location.

Those assisting in the cleanup will be given a route map, gloves, trash bags, and snacks.

Cleanup runs from 8 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. and includes specific targeted areas of the city. The mayor encourages businesses, churches, and schools to bring groups of volunteers to help.

Hazardous waste, like refrigeration units, chemicals, tires, and batteries are not permitted to be disposed of during this event.
