VIGO COUNTY (WAWV/WTWO) – The community came together this afternoon to help clean up the historic 12 points neighborhood.

The Vigo County tobacco-free coalition teamed up with the 12 Points Revitalization Committee for the first cigarette butt clean-up.

Participants were given clean-up routes and supplies. Many community booths were set up in front of Grace Community Church to pick up the waste and shared with the community the dangers of smoking.

Vigo County Prevention and Sensation Coordinator Sarah Knoblock said events like this are important for the community.

“We are focused on the environmental impacts that cigarette waste and e-cigarettes,” Knoblock said.

The cigarette butt clean-up was just one of the many efforts in 12 Points Revitalization.
