SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Saint Mary’s Christmas festivities got underway Saturday with the annual Christmas at the Woods event.
“Today, we’ve invited the whole Wabash Valley community out to our Woods to really enjoy the Christmas season, to enjoy the Woods itself, the environment here, and all of the activities we have going on,” Co-Director, Sister Paula Damiano said.
Activities at the event included: face-painting, horse carriage rides, play area, cookie decorating, bingo, sing-a-longs, and more.
The biggest activity was Santa, who children could visit with.
Christmas at the Woods welcomes more community members each year. Last year, the event welcomed 900 individuals.
“We feel like here people can come and are reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. That is friends, family, and of course, the birth of Jesus Christ,” Sister Damiano said.
There was also a bake sale at the event so families could take home treats to enjoy.
This is the fifth year for the event.
