TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Catholic Charities announced plans to offer free meals to children this summer. The meals will be available to all children under the age of 18. Adults over the age of 18 who are enrolled in a state approved educational program for the mentally or physically disabled are eligible as well.
Assistant agency director Jennifer Buell said nutrition is vital to a child’s development.
“The more that we can do to maintain that nutrition not just throughout the school year but throughout the entire year, the summer included, really just helps those children to maintain that consistent level of nutrition, help them with maintaining good health,” she said.
Meals will be available on a first come first serve basis starting June 1 through Aug 13 at Ryves Youth Center. Snacks will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. and supper from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
