TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Catholic Charities of Terre Haute hosted a sold out Rubber Duck Regatta Saturday afternoon on the banks of the Wabash River in Fairbanks Park.

This was the event’s third annual appearance, and over 15,000 rubber ducks were dropped into the river off the U.S. Route 150 bridge connecting Terre Haute with West Terre Haute.

Participants purchase rubber ducks with the chance of winning $10,000 if theirs crosses the finish line first. All proceeds from the event went to help Catholic Charities of Terre Haute.

“We are able to provide those services of emergency food assistance, emergency shelter, after-school programming for youth in our community, as well as our Christmas store program,” said Jennifer Buell, assistant agency director for Catholic Charities of Terre Haute.

The winner of the event was Terre Haute contractor, Ice Rigging.
