TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Catholic Charities has announced the dates for families to register for the 2023 Christmas Store shopping.

Any families living in Vigo County wishing to shop at the store this year must first register in-person at the store. Registrations will be open October 30 through November 3. The store will be open to registrations from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (closed for lunch during the noon hour).

Additionally, evening registrations will be available Oct. 31 and Nov. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Jennifer Tames with Catholic Charities says its all about providing basic needs to local families.

“These are brand new items but they’re basic needs items,” Tames said. “I don’t think you get much more basic than things like socks and underwear. And something as basic as dishes so a family can eat together is a true blessing for some of our families who come here”.

Tames said the yearly effort helps ensure a happy, fun, celebration for the whole family.

“Christmas is about family, Christmas is about traditions, and celebrating together,” Tames said. “We recognize how hard parents work and grandparents and guardians work to take care of children, and we want to make sure that they all get something for Christmas so that way they can all celebrate together.”
