TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute City Council will discuss the rezoning ordinance filed earlier this month that would allow for Churchill Downs to build a casino on the city’s east side.

Special Ordinance 4, 2022 is on the agenda for the next THCC meeting on March 3. The application for the rezoning petition was filed on February 7 and references two lots off of East Margaret Avenue.

The site plan featured as part of Special Ordinance 4, 2022.

The lots, which total nearly 50 acres, would be rezoned from agricultural land to a regional commerce district. This would allow for Churchill Downs to build the Queen of Terre Haute casino, along with a hotel and restaurants.
