TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County CASA hosted its biggest event of the year, ‘CASA Whoville’, on Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.

CASA Director Glenna Cheesman said that preparations for the event started several months ago. Some preparations include fundraising and the gathering of gifts for kids.

During the ‘Whoville’ event, CASA volunteers hand out prewrapped gifts and blankets to kids within the CASA program.

Cheesman stated that CASA serves over 1,300 children and they managed to gather over 2,000 gifts to distribute.

“The hardest thing the children that we see who are abused and neglected in our community is for them to just be a child,” Cheesman said. “We know that it’s hard times for everyone and this just helps give that extra boost.”

Vigo County CASA is in need of volunteers. Anyone interested should call the CASA office at (812) 231-5658.
