TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A chainsaw artist from Brown County, Ind. is creating a work of art here in the Wabash Valley.
Terre Haute resident Tim Curley hired Christopher Trotter to carve a ten-foot tall grizzly bear into a tree on his property on Rosehill Ave.

Once the bear is finished, Trotter plans to carve an eagle at the top of the tree spreading its wings.
Trotter’s love for carving started with the hobby of whittling. He adds that he went from whittling small projects after work to opening his own shop, and eventually began using a chainsaw to do the carving.
“I said, hey I’m going to have to get better, get faster,” Trotter said. “So I told my buddy, well I’m going to go get a chainsaw, and that was pretty much the history of it, you know. It’s been 16 years since then.”
Trotter’s advice to anyone interested in learning wood carving is to do your research before starting a project.
