VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two men reportedly heading to Vincennes University to deal marijuana have been arrested while traveling through Vermillion County, the Sheriff says.

According to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office, the men were pulled over after being clocked driving at speeds of 102 MPH in a 60 MPH zone of SR 63, near the intersection with County Road 50.

Investigating deputies said they could smell marijuana in the vehicle and initiated a search that yielded marijuana organized in bags for distribution, as well as a large bulk bag of marijuana and a large amount of cash.

The men were then placed under arrest, further investigation reportedly led deputies to believe the two were on their way to Vincennes University to attempt to sell their product.

The incident resulted in the arrest of Lonzell French, 20, of Hammond, Indiana, and Dareon Mobley, 19, of East Chicago, Indiana.

According to court documents the men were charged with the following:

  • Lonzell French
    • Dealing in marijuana weighing b/t 30 grams & 10 pounds
      • A level 6 felony
    • Possession of marijuana
      • A class B misdemeanor
    • Reckless Driving
      • A class C misdemeanor
  • Dareon Mobley
    • Possession of marijuana
      • A class B misdemeanor
