VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s summer break for Vigo County students and for some, that means summer camp.

Camp Navigate celebrated the first day of its summer camp. The goal of Camp Navigate is to teach children to core life skills and workforce readiness.

Co-founder and Executive Director Eleanor Ramseier said this year’s theme is What a Wonderful World. Children will learn about other cultures and geography. They’ll also have fun with pep rallies, crafts, and activities like making s’mores.

“They get to really have summer time enrichment with activities and education and to see the kids actually grasp that and learn, and want to take that into the school year. That’s exciting. It’s very rewarding,” said Ramseier.

Ramseier thanks Terre Haute First Baptist Church for allowing Camp Navigate to use their building again this year. Ramseier also noted the camp is at capacity for the second year in a row.
