TERRE HAUTE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With the Terre Haute Convention Center construction ongoing, the general manager for the facility is excited to bring economic growth to local businesses and the community.
Tenille Wanner has worked for Spectra Venue Management for 13 years in different leadership roles, such as director of sales in different venues. Though this will be her first general manager position, she plans to use her past years of experience to help her lead.
“For me being able to go in this building that’s brand new, it’s building everything from the ground up. It’s building your team,” Wanner said. “Finding the right people for the community. Building the culture and to me, that’s the most exciting thing about being a GM.”
After meeting with Wanner, Capital Improvement Board president Jon Marvel says they were impressed and knew she would be the right person for the position.
“Knowledge of the convention center industry, 18 years. She has that experience,” said Marvel. “She opened a convention center in Utah. We were all very impressed with her credentials and how she presented herself.”
Wanner wants to begin working on creating a brand and the convention center’s presence in the market. In order for her to do so, she plans to create relationships with different organizations both locally and regionally.
“I’d very much like to be a member of the Chamber and work directly with them and creating those relationships with hotels,” said Wanner. “Start creating the foundation for the events that we’re going to start driving.”
Wanner is set to begin her new position at the end of May.
