CLARK COUNTY, Ill (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: Illinois State Police are reporting that one person has died as the result of a two-vehicle crash on I-70 in Clark County late Wednesday night.
ISP said that the crash happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. on September 7 in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near mile marker 132.
According to police, a semi was parked on the shoulder of I-70 when for an unknown reason a second vehicle left the driving lane and struck the vehicle on the shoulder in the rear.
The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
The crash caused a portion of the interstate to be closed for a long time with the road re-opening at 7:15 a.m. Thursday.
