Brazil PD assistant chief arrested for DUI

BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Brazil Police Department Assistant Chief Dennis Archer, 43, was arrested Saturday morning for operating while intoxicated, according to Indiana State Police PIO Matt Ames.

Ames said Archer was stopped near U.S. 40 and West Street in Brazil by Master Trooper Todd Brown for unsafe lane movement.

During the traffic stop, Master Trooper Brown noticed the odor of alcohol on Archer’s breath.

Archer agreed to a portable breath test and was then transferred to the Clay County Justice Center. His blood alcohol concentration was .09%. He faces preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, operating a motor vehicle with endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor, and unsafe lane movement, for which he received a citation.
