BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Brazil man has been accused of two felony charges relating to sexual acts with a minor.

According to court documents, police began investigating the situation on September 8 after the victim’s friend brought police Snapchat messages indicating that the victim, a 16-year-old girl, had been sexually abused. Investigating officers were later told the sexual acts included the initial victim’s 14-year-old friend.

Police arrested Tyler Mayfield, 36, of Brazil, on September 15 following numerous interviews with alleged victims and their family members.

Mayfield has been charged with a level 4 felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor, and a level 5 felony charge of child seduction.

According to the court docket, Mayfield has been given a no-contact order as part of his pre-trial release. His pre-trial conference is scheduled for November 7 with a jury trial tentatively scheduled for March of 2023.
