SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Brazil man was caught stealing wiring from an abandoned substation in Sullivan County last week.

Jared Cooksey, 26, of Brazil was charged with theft and other offenses after a lieutenant with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office found a vehicle parked along County Road 350 near State Road 54. The lieutenant then saw Cooksey walk back to the truck from the substation and drive away.

Aluminum wiring determined to be from the substation was found in the vehicle, and authorities also learned Cooksey had a suspended license for being an habitual traffic violator.

Cooksey was transported to the Sullivan County Jail pending posting of $12,000 bond.
