Brazil Concert Band to perform this season’s grand finale next Sunday

Members of the Brazil Concert Band rehearse for an upcoming performance Tuesday evening at Forest Park.

BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Brazil Concert Band will perform its grand finale concert event at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29, in Forest Park; the event will go on rain or shine.

The BCB will perform “Curtain Call” by John Wasson, the first time the band has performed the piece, featuring every section of the band in a comic vaudeville setting. Also included in the set list is “From Tropic To Tropic” by Russell Alexander, “La Belle Helene” by Jaques Offenbach in an arrangement by Jim Mahaffey and “Galop from Genevieve de Brabant” also by Offenbach and edited by Col. John R. Bourgeois.

Additionally, music from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar”, arranged by Henry Mancini, will be played. This includes “Superstar”, “Everything’s Alright”, “King Herod’s Song” and “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”.

An early Christmas present from the Brazil Concert Band is “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson. 

The Legion Ladies will serve hamburgers and hot dogs from the concession stand.
