BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — As the summer season comes to a close, the Brazil Concert Band has announced their final concert of the series.

The band’s director, Matthew Huber will present the Grand Finale for the 2023 Brazil Concert Band Series at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 27 in Forest Park rain or shine. 

Huber noted the fantastic, local musicians who make up the band and that other members who have sang the national anthem all summer will perform together to kick off the Grand Finale concert. 

Attendees can expect concessions, generously operated by the Clay County Soccer Club, and to hear many popular compositions such as “March to Mecca” and “The Screamer” by Fred Jewell, “Bombasto” by Orion Farrar, and “The Lambs’ March”, “Who’s Who in Navy Blue”, “Mars and Venus”, “Naval Reserve March” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” all by John Philip Sousa. 

There will be other songs as well such as,  “Songs of Aloha” arranged by Ralph Ford, “Quicksilver” by Brazil Community Band tuba player Tory Alsip, “Gershwin” arranged by Robert Bennett, “Vaudeville Favorites” by James Ployhar and “Hymn of Praise” arranged by Philip Gordon.

The 2023 Grand Finale will have a wide range of music and the Brazil Concert Band encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the event.
