CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – A boil order has been put in place for areas of Palestine and will remain in effect until further notice.

According to representatives with the Robinson Palestine Water Commission, a boil order was put in place on Tuesday, October 24 along Route 33 East towards Palestine, and also includes the entire village of Palestine.

Robinson Palestine Water Commission also noted this includes Lincoln Trail College as well.

The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:

  • Fill a pot with water.
  • Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
  • Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
  • Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
  • Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
