CASEY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local bank is helping support a law enforcement effort that provides children in need with a happy holiday.

Preferred Bank donated $15,000 to the Shop with a Cop Program in Clark County, Illinois, on Monday.

The program provides clothes and toys to about two hundred kids in the county, and provides a pizza party for the families who take part.

Those involved say the need for help is great this year and the bank is happy to assist the community.

“Very great opportunity for us to give back to families so at least children can have a good Christmas because we know that families have been impacted, not only with the virus, but also financially because of employment situations,” says Ken Scott, President & CEO of Preferred Bank.

Jeff Sanders, Assistant Chief of the Marshall Police Department says, “we’re expecting there’s probably going to be more kids than ever who are going to need help this year with a lot of people out of work, so this donation will help us help even more kids than we have in years past.”

People who want to help the program can donate to any of the police departments in Clark County.
