TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Terre Haute Police Department arrested a man who they say stole plants, trees, and other shrubbery from the Terre Haute Convention Center.

Jordan Schoffstall, 33, of Terre Haute was placed under arrest for theft and was issued a Summons to Appear in Terre Haute City Court.

In a Facebook post from THPD, employees at the THCC began noticing that plants and trees were vanishing from landscaping surrounding the center.

A review of security footage showed Schoffstall arriving at the THCC multiple times per night to loosen or prep the plants for a return later to steal the shrubbery.

Officers located Schoffstall’s vehicle near the THCC on March 15th and found him a short time later.

Officers were able to gain a confession and recovered several of the stolen plants. The plants were recovered from the suspect’s residence. THPD said some of the plants perished.
