All lanes of State Road 59 reopened after being closed due to a house fire

CENTER POINT, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Both the north and southbound lanes of State Road 59 in Center Point, Ind. are back open after they were temporarily closed Monday afternoon due to a house fire.

The fire was put out around 4:45 p.m., according to Jackson Township Fire Department Assistant Chief Zeph Smith, no injuries were reported. Smith said the homeowner told officials they were cooking when a grease fire started and spread from the ceiling of the house to the attic.

Fire fighters arrived on seen and were able to clear the house and extinguish all fires, Smith said. All occupants were able to get out safely, he added.
