PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The holidays can be a tough time for those who have to deal with the anniversary of the loss of a loved one.

The decorations, the holiday music playing at every store, and even a cheery “Merry Christmas” from a kind stranger can turn into a reminder of the pain of their loss.

With the knowledge that some are struggling with their thoughts and past grief around this time of year, Horizon Health has announced that they will be holding a special grief support group throughout the holiday season.

Coping with Grief During the Holidays will meet on Thursdays from November 16 through January 4 (except for Thanksgiving) from 4-5 p.m. at the Senior Care section of the Horizon Health main campus in Paris.

The group will provide emotional support to those in attendance, and offer effective ways to deal with that grief and heal after a loss.

The group will be led by a licensed clinical social worker as well as a social services case manager at Horizon Health.

The free group is available to those aged 18 and older. All discussions are confidential, however, registration is required.

To register call Horizon Health at 217-466-4170.
