TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– In Terre Haute, local firefighters have waited years to finally host the Annual Convention for the Professional Firefighters Union of Indiana– and following the week, local officials say feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Terre Haute Fire Chief Bill Berry said that he was happy to see their hard work come together.

“Our firefighters, our convention committee, our union executive board did one heck of a job, they put together a great venue for all the firefighters in the state. We probably had 200 plus firefighters there,” he said.

The event included a block party on Wednesday. Berry said speaking with those in attendance, he thought the event went great.

“The feedback was fantastic. I think all of our firefighters heard great feedback from all of the other firefighters across the state. We heard great feedback from the PFFUI, so overall it was a great success,” he said.

Berry hopes to bring the convention back to Terre Haute in the coming years.

Their feedback was amazing. They loved the venue, they loved the convention center, they really liked what was going on downtown. All of our establishments we went to, they had a great time as we always do in every city,
