TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One person was taken to the hospital and one vehicle was damaged after an air compressor fell off of a car and hit another vehicle around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday on US Highway 41 in Terre Haute, Ind.

Both vehicles were heading northbound on US-41 near Crossing Blvd. when the collision occurred, Deputy Ryan Hartleyroad said. The vehicle in front was pulling an air compressor, which became detached and hit the car behind it.

One female passenger in the vehicle that was hit was taken to a local hospital for head pain, Hartleyroad said, but she was active, alert and out of the vehicle when police arrived. The vehicle that was hit had heavy front end damage and the air compressor flipped over onto the side of the road, police said.

US-41 was never closed because of the incident, Hartleyroad said, and no citations were issued.
