WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Washington Police reported Friday that after a standoff, a man was arrested who was wanted on warrants out of Missouri and Pike County and was considered armed and dangerous.

Detectives attempted Friday afternoon to arrest Ronald Blackmon, 29, outside of a residence on N.E. 1st when he then fled back inside. Blackmon had been flagged in law enforcement records as being armed and dangerous with violent tendencies, and information suggested he was in possession of a handgun. The residence was surrounded by officers with Washington PD and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts were made to get Blackmon to exit the home voluntarily, a search warrant was obtained and CS gas and a K9 were deployed into the residence. Blackmon was found hiding in the residence’s basement and taken into custody without incident and further charged with resisting law enforcement.

Washington schools were asked to dismiss students early during the standoff.
