CHARLESTON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — An annual bike race will be holding its 7th event this year as the Tour De Charleston returns with a new addition of expanding participation with a children’s bike race alongside the typical tour.
The Tour De Charleston will take place on September 30 with the start time at 8:00 a.m., the starting and finishing lines will be at the Charleston Square. There will be timed races with awards for all divisions, 3 routes varying in length at 12.5 meters, 25 meters, and 50 meters, and there are also scenic routes throughout the city and the surrounding countryside of Illinois.
The kids’ bike race will take place in the same location, but the starting time will be at 8:30 a.m. and registrants will be split into age groups of 11-12, 9-10, 6-8, and 5 and under.
Attendees and participants can expect to find food and water stations set up along routes, professional photography of registrants, t-shirts, a raffle, a kid’s bicycle giveaway, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, vendors, and more.
