TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County CASA, a local non-profit, will be hosting a back-to-school event for over 600 registered attendees in the community. 

According to Glenna Cheesman the Vigo County CASA Director, the Spalshin Pirates Palooza Back to School event will take place on Saturday, August 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fowler Park Shelter A. 

Cheesman said that over 600 people have registered to attend the event and that CASA will be providing school supplies, backpacks, shoes, socks, and while supplies last, undergarments and hygiene products.

Attendees can also expect fun activities like a water slide, a battleship water fight, a painting activity, and lunch along with service vendors passing out items.

The event was made possible thanks to community donations and various local businesses such as Firefly, Vivid Smiles, Wigwam Skate, Walmart East and South, and Dollar Tree East. The event is only available for those that registered.
