TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Approximately 150 cars reported to Top Guns parking lot in Terre Haute to take part in the 4th Annual Gears for Grunts Car Show.
Organizers for the event say they could see the difference in attendance compared to years past.
“We see a lot more diversity out here. We’ve expanded the options of the show. We brought a lot of bikes this year. We’re raffling off over $3,200 worth of gift cards,” Michael Egy, Administration Coordinator at Loyal Veterans Battalion. “This year is really proving to be an outstanding year for us.”
Car lovers and families enjoyed cars, food and live music. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Loyal Veterans Battalion to support homeless veterans and those in need. Egy says it was great to see so many people give back to local veterans.
“This is our main fundraiser,” Egy said “We rely on the generosity of the community to help us raise funds so we can continue our mission to feed, clothe and and comfort our homeless veterans and the needy of Vigo County.”
Many events and programs have changed as society tries to return to life before COVID-19. Those at Top Guns say it was more than they could’ve asked for.
“Put on this event to help Loyal Veterans Battalion but mainly it’s also to help the community,” Alex Ringwald, general manager of Top Guns said. “A lot of events like this bring a lot of people together to enjoy things like cars.”
Top 20 awards and “best of Show” awards were given to some of the best cars based on judges discretion.
