TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Hoosiers planning for college can begin filing for financial assistance.
The window for filing the 2021-2022 FAFSA opened Thursday, October 1.
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
The average financial aid package consists of grants, scholarships and loans.
Randa Wells, Associate Director for Outreach in ISU’s Financial Aid Department, says it’s important that students file the FAFSA.
“With college costs and everything that’s going on in the country right now, we definitely want to encourage students to see what they’re eligible for to make sure they get the best financial aid package to help pay for their education,” says Wells.
The deadline to file is April 15, but Wells suggests filing early as some funding is available on a first come, first served basis.
