2020 Honeybee Festival canceled due to COVID-19

PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Paris, Ill. Kiwanis Club on Wednesday announced the cancelation of the 2020 Honeybee Festival due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“While the information and data concerning COVID-19 is ever-changing, it seems apparent that to have the festival would not be in the best interests of the health and safety of our community and all the individuals that participate in making the festival so wonderful,” festival committee members said in a written statement. “While we desperately wanted to put on the festival for a myriad of reasons–including to provide some normalcy and give the community an event that is so commonly associated with Paris–we recognize the risk is not worth the reward.”

Committee members noted all aspects of the festival are canceled this year, including the pancake tent, parade, vendors and entertainment.

Organizers plan to bring the festival back in 2021.
