HUNTINGBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — 15 pounds of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and thousands of dollars in cash were seized by police in Dubois County Monday.
In a Facebook Post, the Huntingburg Police Department reported the arrests were the result of multiple incidents that led police to discover the illegal drugs. On Saturday, March 19, first responders were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Niehaus Trail in Huntingburg for a possible opioid overdose. According to police, the following day on Sunday, March 20, they were contacted by law enforcement from another jurisdiction about potential drug activity involving individuals living at the same residence.
Then on Monday, March 21, multiple agencies assisted the Dubois County Superior Court Probation Office in enforcing a court order. During this action, officers located illegal narcotics. Officers then obtained a search warrant for the property.
In total police reported finding approximately 15 pounds of marijuana, 177 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, various other THC products and approximately $11,000 in cash.
This led to the arrest of Robert L. Shepherd III and Alexis J. Seitz.
Both individuals were charged with the following:
- Dealing in a schedule 1 controlled substance (Psilocybin Mushrooms)
- Dealing in marijuana over 10 pounds
- Possession of Marijuana
- Maintaining a common nuisance
- Possession of paraphernalia
Police remind everyone that charges are merely accusations, and both defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
