TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Three people have been arrested after police say one person was shot in the midst of a street fight in Terre Haute.
According to the Terre Haute Police Department, the incident occurred at 7:35 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, when dispatch received calls reporting multiple individuals fighting in the 2300 block of 2nd Avenue.
Police said when officers arrived to the scene there were numerous people fighting in the roadway with one individual holding a handgun. The officer reportedly witnessed the man, Gaden G. Cunningham, shoot a victim in the arm in the midst of the fight.
Cunningham reportedly then hid between two parked vehicles nearby before an officer was able to locate him and place him under arrest.
The victim was treated on scene by officers before the fire department took them to Union Hospital.
Cunningham, 21, of Terre Haute, has been preliminarily charged with the following;
- Aggravated battery
- A level 3 felony
- Battery committed with a deadly weapon
- A level 5 felony
- Intimidation
- A level 5 felony
- Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon
- A level 6 felony
Police said two others were placed under arrest for their involvement in the fight and preliminarily charged with battery with bodily injury. Those two were JNaela Cunningham, 23, of Terre Haute. and Shanassie Marshall, 20, of Terre Haute.
